Palo Alto, CA – October 3, 2011 – The Radicati Group’s latest study, “Survey: Instant Messaging, Social Networking, Unified Communications, 2011-2012” provides an in-depth look at corporate deployments and user behavior of 100 organizations worldwide with regards to Instant Messaging, Social Networking and Unified Communications. The survey sample represented over 228,068 business users.
Instant messaging (IM) is widely embraced by the business community, with the majority of respondents indicating that their organization mandates the use of a corporate-sanctioned IM solution. This speaks to the importance of IM in the workplace, as well as the persistent desire by organizations to have some control over IM use.
Business Social Networks have also seen strong penetration with corporate organizations both for internal and external customer-facing use. Business users are still evenly divided, however, over whether the use of social networking reduces the use of email or not.
