IBM announced it has acquired XIV, a privately held storage technology company based in Tel Aviv, Israel. XIV, its technologies and employees, will become part of the IBM System Storage business unit of the IBM Systems and Technology Group. www.ibm.com

NetApp announced a definitive merger agreement to acquire Onaro, whose software allows enterprises to manage storage with the highest possible data availability at a fraction of normal operational costs. www.netapp.com

IBM announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire Solid Information Technology, a privately held company based in Cupertino, California, and Helsinki, Finland, that provides in-memory database software. www.ibm.com
