  • Microsoft Exchange (including all versions) users experience an average of 1.6 hours of unplanned downtime per month, and 2.4 hours of average planned downtime per month.

  • A survey of 100 companies deploying Microsoft Exchange Server indicated that 48% of these companies plan to upgrade, or consider upgrading to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 in the next 12-18 months.
  • Microsoft Exchange Server and IBM Lotus Domino continue to dominate the insourced messaging market. Both of these solutions together make up 58% of the messaging and collaboration software market today.
  • Most companies use a layered approach to security services. 62% of companies use Desktop email security software, while 53% use Server/Gateway email security software, 19% use a hosted email security service, and only 9% of companies reported that they use an email security appliance.

  • 17% of companies surveyed reported a decrease in Spam over the last 12 months.
  • The majority of users surveyed (i.e. 57%) feel that the email retrieval tools their company provides are either “okay”, or “okay, but could be better”.
  • Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) provides a single Web-based interface for workers to find and share information. 67% of corporate users use MOSS for portal functions, while 63% use MOSS for document management, 30% use MOSS for rights management, and only 7% use MOSS for collaboration.
